Why Build for a Cure?

This September for International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month; Children’s Cancer Institute, McDonald Jones Homes and McCloy Group have joined forces to undertake another extraordinary challenge – building and furnishing a house in just 21 days at The Bower in Medowie between Newcastle and Port Stephens

Here at Children’s Cancer Institute, The Hunter region is close to our hearts. Each year approximately 50 families in this region have a child diagnosed with childhood cancer and their support of Build for a Cure is inspiring.

Why do we Build for a Cure?
Every year, more than
950
Children and Adolescents
in Australia are diagnosed with cancer1
Cancer kills more Australian
Children
than any other disease
Every week, nearly
3
Children and Adolescents
in Australia will die from cancer

We won't stop until we find a cure

Every year 950 Australian children and adolescents will be diagnosed with cancer. Every week nearly three Australian children and adolescents will die of cancer.

Our organisation exists solely to put an end to childhood cancer through research. We don’t just hope to do it. We will do it - with supporters like you raising vital funds to support our research for kids like Nixon.
